Water Infiltration Testing
Epicenter Labs is able to help you proactively find and address leaks before storm events take place.
In accordance with the procedures established in ASTM E1105 – Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Doors, and Curtain Walls, by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference, we utilize calibrated water spray racks to simulate a driving rain event on the exterior of the building, and at the same time, we install a vacuum chamber on the inside of the building to simulate the wind pressure forces experienced during such rain events. With the water spray rack and the vacuum chamber both turned on, we are able to observe and document whether the sprayed water is able to penetrate the exterior building envelope, and if such water infiltration constitutes a building envelope failure in accordance with ASTM E1105 criteria.
Based on the water infiltration test findings, the correct repair procedure can be established and implemented to help avoid potential building leaks during a future storm events or loss of time and money due to in appropriate repairs.
